About BMCAC Inc.

The Management Committee and members of The Blue Mountains Creative Arts Centre Inc. wish to extend a welcome to new and prospective members to our organisation, and encourage you to participate in our various activities.

Our Aim is to foster and teach arts and crafts within our community.

Membership is generally around 150 people and new members are welcome.  The membership year begins on 1 January and ends on 31 December.  All members must be at least 18 years of age.

Our premises are located at the corner of Hare and Moore Streets Glenbrook, and it is here that we have our classrooms, exhibition room and gallery.

We are entirely self-funded with our revenue being obtained from membership fees, class fees, workshops and exhibitions, and commission on the sales of members’ goods at our gallery and annual exhibition.

Our magazine, “Creations”, which is published at the centre, is sent to members periodically, and a notice board is located in the central building.  We also advertise class timetables and workshops in the local newspapers.

We are an active group. with arts and crafts interests including fine art (in all its myriad forms), pottery, spinning and weaving, fibre, wood carving and sculpture, mosaics, photography, lead lighting and life drawing.

Common interest groups meet regularly at the centre and detailed information is published in “Creations”.  Interested members are encouraged to participate in such groups which include Potters, Embroiderers, Life Drawers, Fibre workers and Artists.

The buildings at the centre may be used by members for their various activities providing this does not interfere with scheduled commitments such as classes.  Equipment is for hire at nominal cost (eg. looms, pottery wheels, kilns, an extensive library and sundry other equipment.

General meetings are held quarterly in February, May, August and November.  Various Exhibitions including an annual Members’ Exhibition, Pottery Exhibition, Life Drawing Exhibition, market days and demonstration days are held throughout the year.  These are advertised in “Creations” and local newspapers.

The Centre Gallery is available for members to exhibit and sell their work, and exhibiting members are required to undertake a number of gallery duties each year. The gallery retains a commission of 25% on any goods sold whilst on display.

An exhibition room is also available for hire for individual exhibitions at a reasonable rate.
